I didn’t dream up this topic. It was actually spoken to me by a young mother. It was such a profound sentiment, I had to include it while writing THE POWER OF TRYING.
True, motherhood comes before anything else, but it’s not all that you are. You are a woman of great substance, filled with amazing potential, who just happens to be a mother as well. Repeat that back to yourself if you need to, and let it sink in for a while. That’s what you must ALWAYS remember! Don’t let motherhood become an excuse to throw your dreams in the closet, never to be seen again.
I really understand the scope and responsibilities of parenthood. Things may not move as fast as we want them to with a family in tow. Hold on to your ambitions. Pace yourself, and NEVER stop dreaming. The same goes for working fathers, young and old, or anyone barely making ends meet.
Maurice Johnson shares insight on making the transformation from a dreamer to a doer, and the correlation between success and motivation throughout the process. THE POWER OF TRYING speaks to those who desire a greater sense of self-actualization, inspiration and personal achievement.

I’m sure you’ll agree, ideas and motivation to write can derive from many sources. Often a real life occurrence, memories or a personality trait will work its way into your writing or a plot twist. Simple real-life interactions I’ve witnessed or experienced myself, especially the unique quirky idiosyncrasies of a friend, family member, or a distant observation of someone while out and about. Whatever the motivation, embrace it, use it. It’s the random, often unexpected things that can become a goldmine of inadvertent inventive writing ideas. Don’t overlook it. Real-life can make a great co-author. —Maurice Johnson/SelfPublishMe

Are you the type of writer who’s more comfortable with using word prompts as a means of inspiration, or would your rather forge through strictly on your own creative genius?
Congratulations to SelfPublishMe author, Caleb Jacobson for his new book titled: STAY the F*CK HOME. Stay the Fu*k Home is a plea from healthcare providers across the nation working on the frontlines trying to save lives. This book provides a humorous, yet somber, view of our current situation using adult humor and colorful illustrations. Shelter-in-place orders and social distancing during the pandemic help flatten the curve to not only save lives, but also to prevent overwhelming our hospital system. Illustrated by Martin Dirk.
